National Blog Posting Month – Day 23 – The Whole Dollhouse!

I gave a tour of every room in my dollhouse over on Substack earlier this month. I combined those posts and have put them on this blog just to keep things together. You can find them here (kitchen, dining room, and living room) and here (bedroom, bathroom, and sewing room).

Today, I’m showing the whole dollhouse! Tobia from Craftalicious Me asked a great question: What are the dimensions of the dollhouse? Her question made me realize that it’s difficult to know the context without dimensions. So, here we go!

A detailed view of a dollhouse with various decorated rooms, showcasing a measuring tape indicating its dimensions.
The dollhouse is 41 inches high from its peak to its bottom. (106.68 cm)
A dollhouse interior showcasing a kitchen and dining area, with a measuring tape placed in front to indicate dimensions.
It’s 28.5 inches wide. (72.39 cm)
A close-up view of a dollhouse interior, showcasing a measuring tape laid out along the floor. The floor has a brick pattern, and there is a potted plant and a small white bench visible in the background.
The rooms are all 10.5 inches deep. (26.67 cm)
A close-up view of a dollhouse kitchen featuring a measuring tape alongside a dining table with a patterned tablecloth, a platter of food, and various kitchen items like dishes and an orange crate.
The rooms are 10.25 inches tall. (26.035 cm) The upstairs rooms are taller because of the vaulted ceiling.
A close-up view of a dollhouse dining room featuring a table set with colorful dishes and food, with a measuring tape placed in front to indicate the room's dimensions.
The dining room, living room, and bedroom are about 18 inches wide. (45.72 cm)
A detailed view of a dollhouse sewing room featuring a desk with a sewing machine, colorful spools of thread, and decorative plants, with a tape measure indicating dimensions.
The sewing room, kitchen, and bathroom are 9.25 inches wide. (23.495 cm)
A detailed view of a dollhouse showcasing multiple rooms including a kitchen, dining area, living room, and bedroom, all adorned with miniature furniture and decor.
The whole dollhouse is the perfect size for furniture that is at 1/12 scale. Barbie dolls are 1/6 scale, so half that size.

I hope you enjoyed all these measurements and seeing the whole dollhouse! If you have any questions, please feel free to ask!

    1. Thank you for following along with all my posts, Nicole! I really appreciate you!!!♥️

  1. This dollhouse is just darling. I love that each room has so many detailed touches. Thanks for sharing the dimensions. I hope a Barbie doesn’t stop by, because she would scare the inhabitants with her oversized self. bah ha ha.

    1. Birchie, I should have thought of showing the big picture before, but I get too focused on the tiny details! (Get it…tiny details!) Oh dear, I’m getting loopy!

  2. This is utterly delightful. Have you shown the whole dollhouse before? I’m wracking my brain trying to remember. It feels vaguely familiar but maybe not? Anyhoo…it’s so wonderful to see the whole thing and what a lovely layout and the aesthetics are divine. I’d move in without a second thought. Is the rent fairly affordable?? Haha.

    1. Thank you, Elisabeth! I think I sent you a picture for your blog when you interviewed me, but I didn’t give measurments or anything specific. The rent is very affordable, come right on over!

  3. I enjoyed the measurements very much, and especially love seeing the whole dollhouse! It is exquisite, Michelle. Thank you for sharing it!

  4. Hi Michelle! Me late again!
I LOVE seeing the whole dollhouse at once! It is such a good design for the “generic” concept of dollhouse and you have done wonders with the mini decor! As you know, I am just a bit obsessed… and if I had one iota of extra space I’d want one of those too! Lol! But I already have too many incomplete and a few too many extra un-started kits (for “later” you know) I just have to Not indulge adding any more! (That rule gets broken for the smaller scale projects….Hah!) But I always really REALLY enjoy a visit to your charming dollhouse with whoever is currently in residence!!! :):):) And I hope you will have time for some Christmas parties…. :):):)

    1. Betsy, I love your dollhouses so much! I have a house, while you have a whole miniature world! It’s all so much fun!

  5. Thank you for showing us the whole house and putting things in perspective. Also thank you so much for converting to cm as well.

I am also just realizing that you have lights in your doll house.

I never mentioned that I had a doll house my dad made for us. Or at least parts. I don’t think he did the outside structure. That doll house had electrics and running water for the tub. It was huge and amazing and I loved it. It also had door bell that quickly ran out of battery. I am sure my parents disabled it quickly after Christmas. I am wondering where that doll house ended up. I am sure it was not thrown away. I need to ask my parents of Christmas.

    1. Hi Tobia! The dollhouse your dad made sounds amazing! Running water! I hope you can find it – I’d love to see pictures of it. The lights in my dollhouse are battery operated. Each one takes 3 AAA batteries, so I only turn them on when I’m taking pictures. My poor dolls don’t have running water. They’ll have to settle for pretend water.
