A New Resident at the Dollhouse: Tiny Gnome!

A dear blog reader, Dulcie, sent a Tiny Gnome to live in the dollhouse.

A blue toy truck with a cartoon elephant figurine in the driver's seat, carrying a small package in the back.

Our new delivery driver, Elinora Elephant, brought him to the dollhouse in her pretty blue truck.

A colorful miniature room featuring plush gnome figures, a decorated cupcake with a strawberry on top, and various toy characters, including a doll in a pink dress and a monkey figurine. The room's decor includes floral patterns on the rug and shelves filled with books and plants.

Everyone was delighted to meet him, and of course, they threw him a welcome party!
“What is your name, dear sir?” inquired Jane Austen.
“My name is Tiny Gnome, but you can call me T.G. for short,” he replied.
“Oh!” cried the Seahorse, “Are you related to M.G. of MG Doodle Studio?”
“Ahhh!” cried the green Gnome, Gnorman, “The G stands for Gnome! I always wondered about that.”
“I don’t think that’s right,” said the brown Gnome with a bright red heart, Gned. “I think that particular G stands for something else.”
The conversation went on and on until bedtime.

A miniature room scene featuring a white dresser with decorative knobs, a small dollhouse with a black roof, a purple gnome figurine, a white mirror on a stand, and a vase with flowers, set against a colorful backdrop with stars.

Everyone was sleepy, so they showed T.G. to his bed.

“We prepared this tiny dollhouse just for someone your size,” said Jane.

A miniature shelf with a house-shaped top, featuring a blanket, a small orange, and a cup inside. A purple gnome figurine stands beside it, with a white dresser and floral arrangement in the background.

T.G. was overjoyed! “It’s perfect!” he exclaimed. He admired the soft bedding and amenities, which included several books, a cup of herbal tea, and a little cutie orange.

A miniature dollhouse featuring a black shingled roof and small windows. The door is open, revealing shelves with a gnome sleeping in colorful bedding,, a white mug, a small orange figurine on a plate, and a stack of tiny books.

T.G. was cozy in his little bed. He decided this would be a wonderful place to live, and fell fast asleep.

Thank you, Dulcie, for sending the Tiny Gnome to live with us!

What books do you think are in T.G.’s little dollhouse? Best Gnome Pun title wins a prize from me!

  1. Michelle, I actually screamed while reading this. Fortunately no one was home, but Rex did give me a look. This is just the most delightful story ever. I am dead now. Although – how many times have I written “I am dead” after reading your blog posts? Just call me Lazarus, I guess.
Side note: I knew someone who did name their child Lazarus and…I feel like that’s putting an odd sort of burden on a baby.
Anyway! Everything filled me with delight particularly his tiny tiny dollhouse. Also “the G stands for Gnome” omg. Oh My Gnome.
Possibly TG is into classics like Gnicholas Gnickleby, or, because of one of the other lovely inhabitants, Gnorthanger Abbey. Or maybe a contemporary thriller, Gnone of This is True, or a spicy romance like Gnight Shift. Or maybe he’s a little more edgy, Gnormal People? Historical fiction like The Gnightingale?

    1. Gnicole, you are the Queen of Gnome Puns! I love every one of your titles! Gnorthanger Abbey!!!!!! OMG, that is awesome! (I will now always think of OMG as Oh My Gnome!)

  2. Oh, how adorable! And TG is SO TINY! I’m so glad that he has a perfect place to sleep! As for book puns, I bow down before Gnicole! This was the best story ever.

  3. OMG Michelle!! That was amazing. My heart is so happy that T. G. has such a cozy little bed in the dollhouse (with a purple blanket!) and that he got a welcome party. And Elinora Elephant in her blue pickup truck😄 Just delightful!

    1. Yay! I’m so happy you enjoyed this little story, Dulcie! Thank you so much once again for sending T.G.! ♥️

  4. T.G. is too cute. His bed look so cozy. They really know how to make a new fella feel at home! His reading tastes look quite high brow with those beautiful book covers!

  5. T.G. is too cute. I didn’t appreciate his size until I saw him with the other dolls.

I dunno, i think that T.G. and M.G. could be related…maybe you are long lost cousins.

  6. Well this was just the post I needed to read to start my day.

I sense a REALLY cool children’s book stemming from your dollhouse inhabitants, Michelle. You have such a knack for engaging writing, you’ve written a picture book before, AND you have the sweetest dollhouse ever. Think about it 😉 Your dialogue was absolutely precious.

  7. I love this so much! I also love that your friends are sending in friends for the dollhouse. How lovely is that? 💜

  8. Dear Michelle, I Love this post! I have tried to comment a bunch of times… it doesn’t activate the “comment” button for some reason, so my comments won’t post!
I am so sad! But I keep trying!
Oh Heavens…. it looks like it is working again!!! Yay!
(But all my witty words have been lost to the ether…..)
What I think I was saying was…. TG is so Adorable in his little Bed-nook Book-nook Dollhouse…. that is just so totally brilliant!!!! It made me smile from ear to ear! :):):)
And yay yay yay…. I can comment again!!! :):)

    1. Hi Betsy! I’m sorry you had so much trouble commenting! I think my website changed over to a new tier and was updating, so maybe that caused the issue. Who knows. I’m just happy that it finally worked – and thank you for your patience! I’m so glad you enjoyed T.G. and his little dollhouse bed! I kept thinking about all the delightful tiny extra things you would add to a tiny dollhouse like that!

  9. Ahhhh!!!!!! T.G. is adorable, and what a fantastic addition to your dollhouse! I love that he fits so perfectly into the tiny dollhouse, and I’m excited for him to read all the books Nicole has suggested for him!

  10. You know I am the biggest fan of dollhouse stories. Welcome Tiny Gnome. He truly found a place to move in with the tiny books. I’d say there is a fairy tale book that includes Snow-White and Rose-Red – a favorite mine even though the gnome in there is nasty.

    1. Tobia, I’ve heard that gnomes have been thought of as mean little pranksters – but I’ve only ever met nice ones! 😊 ♥️
