What’s in my Advent calendar days 1 – 7

Hello! I purchased the Kinda Kawaii Bookstore Advent calendar this year, and I thought I’d share what I’ve been finding in the little book drawers each day.

Here's a photo of an Advent calendar designed like a book store, featuring drawers labeled with book titles and decorative illustrations. The left side displays a colorful bookshelf with labels for fiction and non-fiction, and the right side shows the numbered drawers of the calendar.

I’ve never purchased an Advent calendar before, but when I saw this one, I couldn’t resist!

An Advent calendar drawer labeled 'The Last Earl Grey' with a blue ribbon and a cute sticky note pad shaped like a tea carton that says 'English Breakfast Tea'.

Day one: The book title was The Last Earl Grey, and inside was a little pad of sticky notes in the shape of a tin of tea. How adorable!

A drawer with Guardian of Stories printed on it, and inside is a leather pen holder with flower embossing.

Day 2: The book title was Guardian of Stories, and inside was a faux leather pen/pencil holder with a clip on the back.

The above penholder with a pencil and a pen placed in it.

I put a pen and a pencil in it to see how it works. I supppose it could clip onto a journal and “guard” my pens.

A box of stickers in pastry shapes.

Day 3: The book title was Midnight Bakery. Inside was a cute little box full of pastry stickers. The box and the stickers are so cute!

A faux leather green box with a pattern of mushrooms.

Day 4: The book title is Mycelium Dreams. (Mycelium deals with fungi, such as mushrooms.) Inside was a little faux-leather open-topped box. It was stored flat, and folded into a 3D box. It honestly seemed a bit strange at first! But it softened and conformed after being set up for a while, and now I think it’s so cute!

Gold paperclips with a tin of tea, a tea bag, and a fancy tea cup at the tops.

Day 5: The book title was Afternoon Tea Tales. Inside were three gorgeous tea-themed paperclips. This is my favorite item so far! I think they’d make nice bookmarks.

A little box that has Yay! Art supplies delivery day! printed on it.

Day 6: The book title was The Painter’s Pocket. Inside was a little box that said, “Yay! Art supplies delivery day!” It was full of adorable art supply-themed stickers.

A little box of stickers shaped like paint, paint brushes, erasers, and varioius art supplies.
A close-up of a decorative box labeled 'The Pocket Chronicles 7,' featuring a pink journal titled 'Pocket Notes' and a black journal with gold designs.

Today, Day 7, the book title was The Pocket Chrionicles. Inside, there were two little notebooks. They have soft covers that feel like faux suede.

A top-down view of a decorative green box containing two small notebooks and various memo pads, including one labeled 'Tea Time Memo' and a box labeled 'Pâttiserie'.

So far, everything fits into the little leather box. I’m delighted with this Advent calendar!

Which of these items is your favorite?

  1. What cute little gifts to find in your Advent calendar! I’ve never done an Advent calendar – maybe we had one when I was a child, filled with chocolate, but maybe I’m making that up? Who knows? I think the little foldable bin would be my favorite. How sweet that all of your new items fit in there. xo

    1. Ernie, the little bin turned out to be so cute and useful. It’s an item I never would have thought of, so I think the designer is a genius!

  2. I AM AGOG. What a box of treasures!!! How fun this is! This is probably the most fun Advent calendar I have ever seen in my LIFE. I’m so excited for you!

  3. That is adorable, I’m so glad you got it and are sharing it with us! I think my favorites are the stickers and the notebook, but it’s all kind of awesome.

    1. J, the stickers and notebooks are so cute! It’s just the sweetest Advent calendar.

    1. Kari, I feel like I lucked out on this find! It’s as if the designer was thinking of me!

  4. Oh thank you thank you for sharing what you are getting!!!! The surprises each day are so charming. I can’t decide which is my favorite! Possibly the sticky notes! Looking forward to seeing what future days reveal.

    1. Suzanne, I’m really enjoying the little surprises. I feel like the designer really thought it through. The sticky notes are so cute, I almost hate to write on them!

  5. For a first Advent calendar you really knocked it out of the park! And because you shared it we get to ride along with you! I think I like the notebooks the best.

    1. Birchie, I definitely feel like it’s an amazing first Advent calendar! The little notebooks are so cute. The faux suede covers are really supple and feel nice to touch.

  6. I’m with Nicole: hands down the cutest, most original Advent calendar I’ve ever seen. Thank you SO much for sharing all the contents and I literally cannot wait to see what else you get.
And the fact things fit in that little tote. The cuteness is almost too much to bear.
The cherry on top is the fact you get to repurpose this advent calendar after you’ve opened everything.
    LOVE IT!

    1. Thank you, Elisabeth! It’s a delight to see what’s in each drawer, and I’ll write an update about the next seven days.

  7. Wow, what a fabulous Advent Calendar. I’ve never seen the likes before. I mean, those gifts are to die for. So damn cute. The creators really thought about every last detail, and made a collectable if ever there was one.

Oh, and I just bookmarked the website for next year.

    1. Alexandra, the creators really did a great job. It’ll be interesting to see what is in the other drawers!

  8. This is the absolute cutest thing! 😍 I’m so glad you’re sharing the contents with us 😀
I think that tea tin note pad + the pastry stickers have me going 😍😍 but everything is just so *cute* it’s hard to pick a favorite 🙂

    1. Rebecca, it really is hard to pick a favorite. I’m excited to see what the rest of the drawers contain!

  9. Michelle!! I love them all!!!! What a great calendar!
I was thinking about what you are going to get 🙂 so thanks for sharing with us.
But yes if I had to pick one- the notebooks and the leather pencil/pen holder.

    1. Daria, it’s so much fun to open the drawers, and it’s fun to share it! I’m not quite sure how I’ll use the pencil/pen holder. I’ve never had anything like that before. But it is pretty!

  10. I love everything about your Advent calendar. We always had the chocolate advent calendars from Germany when I was growing up. Then we did them for our kids as they grew up and now I send the Lego ones to my grandsons every year. I had no idea they made such adorable calendars and I think I’m going to get one for myself next year. I think the tea tin sticky notes are very cute but so far you are really lucking out with the surprises, they are all so fun!

    1. Dulcie, isn’t it amazing to see the variety of Advent calendars these days? There’s something for everyone!

  11. This is all so delightful! It’s hard to pick a favorite but I think it’s the paperclips! The stickers are so fun! I’m so glad you treated yourself to this! I have never bought an advent calendar either but you’ve convinced me that I should seek one out next year!

    1. Lisa, this one is really fun, and I think there’s a huge variety of Advent calendars to choose from these days. They seem to be really popular.

  12. Goodness, Michelle, what wonderful and imaginative treats! And to think they fit in those book drawers! I think my favorites are the little book journals…. tiny books are my favorite thing to paint in! And those tea themed paperclips… or book marks… I would use them with the tiny books… write a thankful each day or a collection of inspiring quotes… illustrated of course! Lol! Have Fun! And I look forward to “sharing” your treats with you! Inspiration always deserves to be shared! :):):)

    1. Betsy, I think it’s amazing that all these things fit in the little drawers. I love the idea of using the notebooks for illustrated quotes!

  13. Oh, I’m so glad you’re sharing your Advent goodies! This box seems like one I would really enjoy. I’m torn between the paperclips or the pocket notebooks. Such great items so far!

    1. Jana, I’m happy that they’re such small things! So far everything fits in that little box, which is nice!

  14. Wow, that is such a cute advent calendar! I really like it. That beats getting a bunch of chocolate, in my mind! My aunt made me an advent calendar when I was a baby and we STILL take turns putting up the (homemade) ornaments on the advent tree each day. I will have to send you a photo of it; it is quite beloved!

    1. K@TS, I also think it’s better than getting a bunch of chocolate – better for my health anyway! Your Advent calendar sounds sweet!

  15. Oh my gosh. This is cuteness overload. And I immediately wondered what items will be used in the dollhouse.

I think I love the tiny notebooks the most. But I an also curious about the basket. I wonder if that is made of Mycelium fabric which some companies experience with as it grows quickly.

    1. Tobia, I’ve never heard of Mycelium fabric…I will have to do some research. Wouldn’t it be cool if that’s what it was? They actually didn’t give any information about it.
