Valentine’s Day is Coming!

My pattern collection of valentine cupcakes, stripes, and hearts.

Dear readers, I’m curious to know how you feel about Valentine’s Day—do you like it, love it, hate it, or are you indifferent to it?

A bright green frog looking up at a fly buzzing by. The words say I only have flies for you!

I LIKE Valentine’s Day. I’m not a fan of assorted chocolates, jewelry, fancy dinners, or roses. But I do like to make and receive cards. When it comes to art, Valentine’s Day is so much fun! Any kind of creature holding a heart is fun to draw, and red, pink, and white are cheerful colors to work with.

A slice of melon with googly eyes and a smile that says Honey, dew you know that you're one in a Mellon!

In the dollhouse, the gnomes have been making valentines to send to all their friends.

The dollhouse dining room table is covered with heart-shaped valentines, pencils, and crayons.

I think Valentine’s Day should be a day of love, whether romantic, platonic, or self-love.

Would you like a Valentine from me? If your answer is yes, please fill out my nifty Google form, and I’ll send you one! (Yes, international readers are welcome to sign up!) https://forms.gle/dd75gm5eS25fjk4S6

There's a tiny mailbox outside the front door of the dollhouse!

Let’s put love out into the world. Let’s love each other. Let’s love ourselves.

Sending you love!

  1. I feel like Valentine’s Day is sort of like Halloween, fun for kids and then something adults either celebrate or skip. I’m sort of indifferent. Coach and I do not really bother with it. I remember seeing all the girls in the dorm with boyfriends during college go to the front desk to collect their big bunches of flowers, etc. I don’t think I was ever a recipient of that, and probably felt a little lousy. But I eventually found my Valentine for life, so it all worked out. 😉

I’d love a Valentine from you. The gnomes’ setup is so cute, as always. The tiny mailbox. The itty bitty pencils. So fun.

  2. I feel very neutral about Valentine’s Day. I’d be perfectly fine to skip it, but I also do redecorate my mantle for the occasion so there is that! Though my first Valentine’s while dating my husband was PERFECTION so I do have some very warm fuzzy memories.
    Um…YES. I do want a Valentine’s greeting from you.
Also, as always, your gnome dollhouse is just too sweet for words. That wallpaper. That mailbox!!!! The mini Valentine’s!!!!!!!!!!!

    1. Hi Elisabeth! I want to see your valentine decorated mantle! When I saw that mailbox at Hobby Lobby, there was a huge pile of inventory boxes stacked in front and I had to crawl over them to get it! 🤣 A valentine will be coming your way!

  3. Hi Michelle! Ooh, have I ever told you before that I LOVE seeing your lovely drawings?? These cards are sooo lovely, but being a miniaturist I also love seeing something of your miniature created settings too.
BUT regarding your question about Valentine’s Day I think I am a bit awkward now because to my opinion I think Valentine’s Day must be every day in life, the same is for Mothers Day and so on. I give love every day to everyone, as much as I can, especially those who need it most (have been a nurse in a childrens hospital, so I’ve seen alot of sadness and misery, but also love and joy). So, no, not specially on Valentine’s Day but every day, does that counts too??
I also like to leave comments on people’s blogs, because that’s nowadays also a special gesture of “love”, if you know what I mean…? Because many blogging people think they are oldfashioned, but some blogs are still very much alive today the day in this crazy busy world ;).
I hope I did not offend you, but you asked for our/my opinion….if I have offend you, let me know and I’ll re-draw my opinion, and than please do accept my apoligies.
Have a lovely day with drawing, or in creating other art pieces <3
    Hugs, Ilona

    1. Dear Ilona, of course you did not offend me! What you have written is beautiful and true – every day is Valentine’s Day (and Mother’s Day) and it’s such a beautiful thing to give love every day. Leaving comments on blogs is definitely a gesture of love, and I so appreciate you for leaving your lovely comments. You are one of those exceptionally special people who worked in a children’s hospital, which I think would be so difficult emotionally, and you have definitely shared so much love. I admire that! Wishing you much love today! ❤️

  4. WELL YES I WOULD ENJOY A VALENTINE FROM YOU!
I like Valentine’s – and Galentine’s, let us never forget Galentine’s – as a way to consume more hearts in every way! I like just spreading the love, making heart cookies, eating assorted chocolates (but only the ones with fruit or mint filling, the caramel/ nut ones can just GO HOME), and giving out little Valentines to my friends. Or, to my Galentines. So watch your mailbox*
*mail not 100% reliable, but let’s just hope for things to go smoothly
The gnomes are getting ready for Valentines and I may die of excitement!

    1. Yes to Galentine’s!! I love that idea! You and I would be perfect “box of chocolates” friends because I ONLY like the caramel and nut ones. Fruit and mint ones make me cringe, but I especially despise the coconut ones. If there’s a box of chocolates and I take one, it’s ALWAYS coconut. Boo hoo. I will be sending you a Galentine and will be watching my mailbox with anticipation! ❤️
