October Delights

October has been beautiful in Montana! I’ve been having fun drawing with They Draw for their Theydrawtober art challenge. There are three lists of prompts dealing with food, travel, and gardens. Artists can mix and match to use their favorite prompts, so there are lots of options.
Here’s one I drew for food: Coffee Style

Here’s one for Gardens: A gnome!

And here’s one for travel: A beach!

I’ve been enjoying my 10-minute walks with the Cool Bloggers Walking Club hosted by Elisabeth at The Optimistic Musings of a Pessimist Blog. She also has this chart available to download on her blog.

Another blogger, San, from The In Between is Mine, had the idea to pop her photo into each space of Elisabeth’s chart. I had already decided to take a selfie during each walk, so I copied San and put them in my chart. Even though I hate taking selfies, after just 11 days, I feel a bit more self-acceptance. I’m here on this earth, enjoying my life, and this is what I look like. I’m so grateful to be here!

Just a little fun thing: Our kitty, Jill, loves to get up on the very top shelf in our barn and take a nap. We have to laugh when we look up and can only see her toes!

I know that October has not been delightful in many parts of the world, and if you’re in one of those places, my heart goes out to you. ❤️

Please tell me how you’ve been; I love to hear from you!

  1. Hi Michelle! I think your selfies in the daily walk chart are a wonderful record of a challenge that proves to be fun and rewarding all in itself! Your smiling face is testament to the healthy feelings from the “getting out there” accomplishment! 🙂 Isn’t it a shame that we all seem to feel as though we “look bad” just because we aren’t like movie stars? In RL they don’t look like their movie images either! (lighting and make-up have something to do with it) I personally feel that a smile is the important thing and we all can use opportunities to spread cheer around!
As for the drawing challenges…. your designs are charming and witty…. and fun! Keep up the wonderful work in both challenges! :):):)
And yes, the hurricane damage is incomprehensible…. I know how little mountain valleys are vulnerable to that kind of rain…. and coastal surge…. it’s terrifying.

    1. Thank you, Betsy! It’s so true that lighting and the camera angle can make a huge difference in a photo. I think I’ll continue on with the selfies and walking as a personal project, just because it’s been interesting so far. Thank you for your kind words about my art. I enjoy it so much, and I want to do it for as long as I can!

  2. I love all of your beautiful selfies! I’m not as good at taking them as I used to, but yours are making me so happy! 😘

    1. Thank you so much, Kari! It’s definitely become an interesting study to take a selfie a day! I love it when you and other bloggers post selfies.

  3. Taking a selfie while out on a walk is a great idea, I think. And also, even if one doesn’t like the photos now in 10 years we will look back on them and be amazed that we once were so young, right?

    Love the illustrations! So sweet.

    Happy October!

    1. Hello, iHanna! How lovely to see you here and thank you for such a nice comment! You’re right, I will probably look back on these photos in 10 years and be amazed at how young I looked! Happy October to you!

  4. You’re such a talented artists. I’m loving all the selfies, too! It’s so fun to think that everyone across the world is walking for CBWC together!

    1. Engie, you’re so sweet to say those nice things! ❤️ The CBWC is such a fun thing to bring us all together!

  5. Your artwork is charming and cheery, just like you. I know that the world is topsy turvy now, those hurricanes are frightening and their aftermath is beyond my comprehension.

  6. Well obviously I love all of those pictures but the gnome, the gnome, THE GNOME. I love how he’s all hiding in camouflage. I also love YOUR SELFIES!!! It’s so great to see your lovely face and I love that we are all on walks together, but apart.

    1. Thank you so much, Nicole! I know, the GNOME! I loved seeing the gnomes everyone drew for the prompt that day. Gnomevember is coming soon….😀 But I don’t want to rush October because it’s my favorite month and I’m enjoying all the walking.

  7. One of my delights of the day was reading your post. Your illustrations are so whimsical and lovely. My favourite was the mug. It looks so festive and I would love to dive right in and take a sip 🙂

Hooray for the walking club and it honestly made my day (which was kinda ho-hum; grumpy kids, weird schedule, bad sleep) so much better when you wrote “after just 11 days, I feel a bit more self-acceptance. I’m here on this earth, enjoying my life, and this is what I look like. I’m so grateful to be here!”

LOVE THIS. And love your selfie chart. Thanks for participating. Have a great weekend <3

    1. Elisabeth, your comment warms my heart! Thank you so very much! ❤️I love the chart you made – it’s given me extra motivation just to fill in the circles with photos!

  8. Your drawings are award worthy. Applause from me to you. The weather is cool and windy here today but we had sunshine for most of the day so that was a plus. There are a lot of folks out there facing some real life challenges, and I hope they get all the assistance they need to get through it.

    1. Judy, wow! That’s such a nice thing of you to say. ❤️I will be smiling all day because of your kind comment!
