Where Do You Keep That – Dollhouse Edition

A miniature dollhouse that's in my dollhouse!

Lately, I’ve seen several posts from bloggers about where they keep various household items. I’ve seen posts from Engie, Stephany, and Elisabeth. Plus, Kyria wrote a really cool post about where she keeps everything on her bike as she rides around the world.

And now I present you with: Where Do You Keep That – Dollhouse Edition!

Kleenex, medicine, and makeup: On shelves in the bathroom next to the new sink and mirror. We’ve had a little bathroom remodeling project, and now we even have a toilet! What a relief!

My dollhouse bathroom with two shelves of beauty supplies, a mirror, a sink, and a toilet.

Pens, paper, scissors: There are two desks in the living room full of pens, paintbrushes, and paper. All of the scissors are in the sewing room.

Two miniature desks with drawers open to reveal the tiniest pencils and notepads.
The box on top of the desk won’t stay open, so I had to hold it with my enormous fingers!

Sewing supplies: In the sewing room, and of course, there are so many!

A miniature ribbon station with various decorative spools of ribbon.
Here’s the ribbon station – and a pair of scissors resting on top.
A miniature box of bias binding.
A little box of bias binding, and yes, there’s a pair of scissors in there, too!
A miniature basket of fabric fat quarters and scissors.
A basket of fat quarters and, you guessed it, a pair of scissors!

Library books: Wait! No! We do not keep our library books by the toilet!! I will be having a very stern talk with the dollhouse residents!

A table beside the toilet has a bouquet of flowers, a spare roll of toilet paper, and a book.

Other books: There are shelves of books in the living room.

A bookshelf with miniature books and other decorative items.

Crock Pot: On the bottom shelf in the kitchen.

A miniature pink crock pot.
Should I be concerned that the crockpot’s display is lit up?

Water Bottles: In the dining room with the crate of orange pop.

A mini crate with bottles of orange pop and two metal water bottles with lids in front.

Dollhouse: It’s probably not surprising that there’s a dollhouse IN the dollhouse! It’s kept in the bedroom at the foot of the bed.

The dollhouse opens, but there’s nothing inside it – yet.

I hope you enjoyed this little tour! If you did, please come back at the end of the month for the Dollhouse Halloween Party! You’re invited!

  1. I could not love this post more if I tried. Everything Nicole said…ditto that.
My favourite is the little roll of toilet paper!!! Too cute. (Though I am curious if the dollhouse residents put it on over or under…you know I have strong feelings about this.)
You are endlessly creative and as I’ve mentioned before, I would love to move right in to your dollhouse.
The scissors?? You are so right – one can never have too many pairs.

    1. Thank you, Elisabeth! I checked the toilet roll, and it looks like it goes over. It has a little flap over it, so it’s hard to tell, but I’m going to declare they’ve done it the right way! 🤣

    1. Thank you, Kyria! I used to attempt making tiny things, but my poor eyes and fumble fingers have a hard time with such small items. It’s much more fun to shop for the perfect mini-item, and I’ve accumulated a lot of cute little things over time. I saw someone’s video review about a 3D resin printer, and how they used it to make things for their dollhouse, and I had to tell myself NO!!!

  2. Okay this is the most genius blog post ever and I hereby crown you the Coolest of the Cool Bloggers.

Listen, there is no shame in keeping books by the toilet. It points to very good screen habits and that the residents of the doll house do not carry their phones with them 24/7.

    1. Birchie, you are too kind. ❤️ The dolls assured me that it was their own personal book by the toilet, not a library book. Whew! I’m all for that! I wonder what they’re reading.

  3. Oh, Michelle, I just LOVE this post to pieces!!!! :):)
Your dollhouse(s) are so organized!!! If you ever have a glimpse into most of mine they are half finished, a total mess, and ummm… works in progress while the stories keep being a distraction! Lol! I love all your itty bitty details… especially all the scissors! One of the items in my dollhouse that I saved from my childhood was a pair of brass(metal) working scissors that came in a gumball machine!!! They are still my favorite scissors…. hmmm… wonder where I left them now….?! !
I am always enchanted by smallness… and I look forward to someday seeing what goes into the dollhouse for the dollhouse! :):) I am going to read this post at least two more times to enjoy all the tiny wonders! :):):)

    1. Thank you so much, Betsy! Your comment makes me so happy, and looking at your dollhouse posts always brightens my day! Your working scissors sound cool and I hope you can find them again. Scissors always seem to go missing – even dollhouse scissors!

  4. WELL! That did it. I am dead now. I am DEAD. I am typing this from beyond the grave because as soon as I saw “dollhouse edition” I knew I was going to die from the cuteness. I love every single thing about this I cannot EVEN Michelle! I cannot even form WORDS. What even are words??? There are no words! This is the most wonderful “where do you keep that” post ever. I mean. Where to even start except to type out every single word you’ve already typed? I WANT TO LIVE IN THIS DOLLHOUSE. And there’s a dollhouse IN THE DOLLHOUSE. Like I said, DEAD.
There’s going to be a Halloween party!!!!! Are the gnomes going to dress up??? Ahhhhhh I can’t take it!!!

    1. Gnicole! (I love that you listed your name as Gnicole!) Your comment delighted me to no end! ❤️ I’m printing it and putting it on my bulletin board to cheer me up on a rainy day!
