I had a lovely Christmas, and I hope you did too! I received many nice gifts, and one of the best was my mom’s fabric stash! She decided that she wasn’t interested in sewing anymore, so she gave me this storage hutch full of fabric!
I found the perfect spot for it in my sewing room, and I’ve been dreaming of all the things I can sew with this unexpected treasure trove of fabric. Here’s what I started with:
I used the “Spring Bouquet” fabric from Kings Road to make this sweet little tote bag using the book Tote Bags by Debbie Shore. The book comes with two plastic templates that can be adjusted to make a variety of totes. I chose one with a flap closure, one pocket on the outside, and one pocket inside. I’m using it for my iPad, and I even made a place for my Apple Pencil!
In other news, I messed up yet again on social media! I was fiddling around with my two Instagram accounts and ended up deleting one of them – and somehow lost access to it! And I also lost access to my Threads account! I wasn’t feeling very interested in Threads anyway, so it’s no big deal. But gosh, I’m so bad at social media! 🤣 I can only laugh at myself!
Happy New Year, and I hope you have a great week!
Oh what a wonderful gift to receive.
The bag looks good.
I used to sew all my totes and purses but it’s been a while.
Happy new year to you
Thank you, Tobia! It’s fun to have so much fabric to play with!
The fabric haul is beautiful as is the tote bag. I’m duly impressed. I don’t know exactly how I feel about Threads. Seems like it should be more fun than it is. Laughing though about deleting the wrong account, I recently screwed up the opposite way and started a blog I didn’t want to start on a new platform. Oops!
Thank you, Ally! Computer things seem to be getting more difficult for me! It’s nice to know it happens to other people too.
Absolutely love your sewing nook! So cozy and calm <3 Also not on social media unless you count the blog as social media.
Thank you, Daria! I’m on social media less and less, and it’s much nicer that way.
What a delightfully organized fabric stash. I would NEVER show a photo of my stash on my blog. LOL. That is a fabulous holiday gift.
Ha Ha! I’m sure my fabric stash won’t look so nice before too long! My mom had it nicely organized for giving it as a gift. Thank you for stopping by! ❤️😊
That bag is so pretty! And it looks handy too.
What a nice gift for such a crafty woman to receive – fabric!
I am purposefully avoiding Threads, I feel like I have enough SM in my life with FB and IG!
Thank you for the lovely comments about my tote bag, Nicole! I guess I’m avoiding Threads now too! 🤣 It’s actually a relief, to be honest!
How fun! And LOVE THE BAG.
I’m not on social media at all, so you’re already a few steps ahead of me!
Happy New Year <3
Thank you, Elisabeth! I’d say you’re many steps ahead of me by avoiding social media!
Happy New Year Michelle! What a fantastic gift from your Mom! I have an intense fabric stash…. but it is not well ordered… crammed into a bureau – roughly sorted by type of cloth…. but all sorts of scraps and not folded at all…. rag bag style, I am ashamed to admit! And the “overflow” is in boxes and baskets of stacks of sort of folded pieces… the ones I use for backdrops in my blog tales and the ones I hope to use soon for possible project details….. or just used and didn’t put away yet after how many years…. because I was maybe going to use it again soon…. can you tell I have a problem? Lol! As for your adorable and useful tote bag, you have gotten off to a great start putting that fabric to good use! (I need a new pocket book myself, now that I think of it… and could probably sew one as good as the old one I have….!) I have avoided all the social media except for blogs….. I am sorry you lost your account… I am sure I would be having those problems too… I can’t even make my cell phone work right….. grrr…. it never does what I tell it to and I don’t know where to find stuff….. ah well… I have better thing to do!
I hope you have a Wonderful productive New Year! :):)
Thank you so much, Betsy! You brightened my day with this lovely, humorous comment! I have the same problems with my cell phone – even making a call can be a challenge!
You and I have the same luck on social media. Years ago, I tried to set up a blog Instagram account, but I misplaced the password and was unable to access it. Oh well. Happy New Year, my friend. ❤️
Your comment made me laugh, Kari! Thanks for commiserating with me!
