August was quite an amazing month for me, with a good eye checkup and meeting THREE bloggers in person!
Gratitude Galore:
I kept my Lightkeeper’s Log, a list of gratitudes and “stormy seas,” which was hosted by Elisabeth from Optimistic Musings of a Pessimist. I had so many things to be grateful for! I thought about posting it here, but then it felt just a bit too personal. The dollhouse crew enjoyed filling out their log, too, and said it was fine to share. (Do they have a computer or typewriter somewhere in their house that I don’t know about?)
I made a flipbook!
I took part in a fun project with the mixed media art group I belong to, The Maker Beehive. We made Tiny Tattered Houses! We each made 9 houses, then exchanged them with 8 other group members. We ended up with delightful tiny tattered neighborhoods! The project took place in June, but I just now finally got around to making a flipbook of all the houses I made and received.
I ordered something fun!
J wrote about her new purse in a recent blog post, and I was intrigued by the dedicated pocket for sunglasses. I’m constantly fumbling with my prescription sunglasses, which are huge, and their case barely fit into my old purse. When it arrived, I thought it was adorable, but I worried that it was too small for all of my stuff. But no, it’s just perfect! It’s very well designed. I LOVE the sunglasses pocket, which makes switching my glasses so much easier! Thank you for your great review, J!
I read and listened to some books!
I listened to Volumes 2 and 3 of The Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion. (I listened to book 1 in July.) I absolutely LOVE this series! They remind me of books by Jane Austen, L.M. Montgomery, and Charlotte Brontë. (In fact, there’s a group of girls at Emma’s former school called The Jane Eyres.) Thank you, Stephany, for recommending this series!
I also listened to The Monk’s Mindset by Sam Yo. Sam is one of my favorite Peloton instructors, and this book was gentle and inspiring.
I read Anxietyland, a graphic novel by Gemma Correll. It was hilarious and touching, and it made me feel seen. I have spent a lot of time in Anxietyland, so I might as well get a laugh out of it. Plus, I love Gemma’s expressive artwork.

Well obviously I am thrilled that you love your new purse! The outer pocket for glasses is what sucked me in, too. It is so handy that it holds two pairs, and I don’t need my glasses case with me anymore. So I have my sunglasses and my readers in there. It doesn’t have the right amount of credit card slots for me, but that’s OK, I have a tiny card holder that I use for the cards I want with me but don’t use often, like my museum membership or the credit card I only use when their special category is something I want to buy.
That little flip book is SO CUTE! I love the tattered houses, and your book shops are adorable.
Meeting you in person was one of my August delights for sure, I’m so glad we could make that happen. <3 And I’ve met both Kyria and Birchie before (though never together at the same time) and I can attest that a good time is always had!
J, The glasses pocket is SO handy! My glasses are Progressives, so I don’t have separate readers – which is a good thing because my glasses are huge! I love how it’s so soft inside the pocket. And it’s so cute!
Meeting bloggers is nice, but the big win of the month is the good eye checkup. Hooray!!!
I’m glad that everything is bloggable in the Dollhouse. If they do have a secret computer stashed away somewhere then it’s a sure bet that some of them have blogs as well! I’d bet anything that the seahorse does;-)

This may be my first comment ever on your blog. I just started reading and the word “gratitude” jumped out. I decided I needed to make a list of things I am grateful for. In about 30 seconds I had a dozen. This was timely as we just got some news/a new significant worry in our family. I remembered we also need to take time to reflect on the positives. Thank you.

Thank you, Kari! Yes, I feel so very grateful for everything. Really, a month that nearly tore me apart turned into something more wonderful than I could’ve imagined.
I’m delighted and charmed by the Tiny Tattereds. Wouldn’t it be fun to do in a classroom? I think lots of kids of many ages would enjoy creating a neighbourhood and then, perhaps, writing stories about it.
It’s wonderful that you had such a good month with so many highlights, especially blogger meetups and, of course, a very positive and encouraging eye appointment. Here’s hoping that September is equally great (or better)!

It was such a fun project because every house I received was so unique and surprising. The seafood restaurant was especially delightful!
What a great month you had Michelle! Especially the good news from your eye doctor. I also read #2 and #3 of the Emma M Lion books. I just got #4 and will start reading it this afternoon. I love that purse, how wonderful that it can be so small and yet fit everything you need. Hopefully you can continue to have so many things to be grateful for (and that the gnomes can be grateful for) in September!
