My newest self-published book is available at Amazon.com. It’s called Let’s Have a Cow, and it’s a sewing project for a cow or bull doll, as well as a dress, shirt, and pants that they can wear.
It took me about two months to create the sewing pattern and then another two months to complete the illustrated instructions. I enjoyed the process immensely! It was very satisfying to have a personal project to work on.
I sent my PDF file off to Amazon’s self-publishing service, ordered a proof copy, and went over it with a fine-tooth comb. I found many, many errors, which I marked with a red pen. And then I got stuck! I was too close to the project and unable to move forward. I just couldn’t face making the corrections. I put the proof copy aside and let it sit there for about a month.
Then I saw a wonderful quote that said, “Finish the dang project already!” That inspired me to make the corrections and order another proof copy. When I received it, I only found two things that I wanted to change. I quickly made those changes and ordered a 3rd proof copy. And then, I was happy with it. I had a wonderful feeling of closure!
I’m super proud of this book. The best part of making the book was drawing the illustrations. I absolutely loved that part! The hardest part was editing. I have a newfound respect for writers and editors!
